May Update

The Zart Mali sculpture is finished!! Dee presented Mali to teachers involved in the program during the first week of May using a presentation that showed the design process which was colour coordinated to match the colours of the continents. Participants in the workshop also created a Paper Magiclay sculpture of one of the Zoo's Extinction Fighter Characters! What fantastic results in a very short amount of time. We are looking forward to  participants posting their finish artworks on our Facebook Page! Thanks again to Sean and the Melbourne Zoo for including us in this exciting project!  Mali is on display in the Zoo's Corporate Reception area until Term 4, when she will return to the Zart Customer Service Centre! We are looking forward to seeing all 100 elephants on display in the Term 3 holidays! !

Last week we were lucky enough to have Jungala and Colleen run two unique workshops about Indigenous Culture. Participants learned firsthand about the best way to help children engage in and appreciate Indigenous Culture as a gateway to exploring artworks. Jungala helped us form a better understanding of how to respectfully incorporate this essential part of Australian History in to the classroom. Thanks again for making the journey down from Alice Springs. Please check out our Facebook Galleries of Song Line Artworks created by participants. We encourage you to post descriptions about your work and your individual canvases on our wall!

Welcome Back to Term 2!

Can you believe it's already Term 2?! Hopefully you've had a restful and relaxing holiday!

The Zart staff have been the last few weeks:

This past Saturday, our consultants met to prepare for Book Week! It was an amazing day full of collaboration and creativity and we are excited to be bringing you the Champions Read as well as hands on workshops in Victoria, Tasmania, Canberra and New South Wales. The publication and workshops will take you through Art activities based on the Theme, Short Listed Early Childhood and Picture Books. Every workshop participant will receive a free copy of the Champions Read or it will be available to purchase through Zart Art in June. To see the full workshop schedule please follow the link below.

Term 2 workshops at Zart kick off with an Olympics Games half day session this afternoon! We have many exciting Workshops this Term, some of which have been repeated due to popular demand! Make sure to get in quick with your registration to avoid disappointment as we are not always able to offer a second session. Please also note the addition of our Early Learning Workshops! Our consultants are very excited to be introducing Play Based and Sensory Experiences in to our PD program.

Stacey has been busy attending Early Learning Conferences to promote our Play Based Catalogue. If you are part of an Early Childhood network and are interested in Free Product and Ideas Presentations from our Play Based Range please contact her on staceyf@zartart.com.au or 9890 1867.

If you haven't visited the Customer Service Centre you should try to stop in to see our fiberglass sculpture of Mali which is nearing completion! Dee and Tania have been decorating her as a sample for the Melbourne Zoo's Mali in my School Project. Our Mali has a map of the world with each continent in a different colour. On each continent we have shown an endangered animal using a different material and technique. Dee will be bringing Mali to the Zoo in May to show teachers different ways they may choose to decorate Mali. Our Facebook Page has up to date photos if you would like to see the process. Feel free to comment or ask questions if you need more information!

While you're in the Centre be sure to explore our Play Based Learning area and also all our NEW Products and Books! Make sure you also go upstairs to visit the Student Gallery!

Our Term 2 Zart Extra has been sent out to schools and will be available online as a PDF shortly!

Just a reminder: Please go to our eShop for up to date MSDS for your classroom! If you cannot find the one you need please don't hesitate to contact us!

Good luck for the Term!
