Halfway through the year already!?!

With only 10 days left in Term 2 we are gearing up instead of winding down! Book Week Workshops kick off this Saturday at Zart and continue to run around Victoria, Tasmania, Canberra and New South Wales into the first week of August. There are still places available in most locations but please contact us ASAP to reserve your spot. Further information can be found by following the link below!

Last night we were once again privileged to host another amazing CBCA Authors and Illustrators talk. Thank you to our fabulous presenters, Margaret Wild, Ron Brooks, Ann James and Anne Spudvilas for a personal and inspirational insight into how authors and illustrators make their way through the creative, yet challenge process, of making a picture story book. We all learnt it’s not as easy as it looks! We look forward to the next two talks later this year organised through our partnership with the CBCA.

If you haven’t made it into see the student gallery this term time is running out! The last day to view the gallery is June 21st. The space will be closed all day June 22nd while it is changed over with the Term 3 display. We are looking forward exhibiting another impressive collection of works!

Remember to keep checking our online gallery space on our Facebook Page as well. It is updated regularly and we encourage you to post photos and comments so we can better address your needs and also provide a place where our artists can exhibit their work! If you have a number of images you would like to share, we are happy to create an album of them if you email jpegs to deez@zartart.com.au. We are nearly to 500 fans and we are VERY EXCITED that the page is becoming a more interactive place for teachers, artists and students!

May Update

The Zart Mali sculpture is finished!! Dee presented Mali to teachers involved in the program during the first week of May using a presentation that showed the design process which was colour coordinated to match the colours of the continents. Participants in the workshop also created a Paper Magiclay sculpture of one of the Zoo's Extinction Fighter Characters! What fantastic results in a very short amount of time. We are looking forward to  participants posting their finish artworks on our Facebook Page! Thanks again to Sean and the Melbourne Zoo for including us in this exciting project!  Mali is on display in the Zoo's Corporate Reception area until Term 4, when she will return to the Zart Customer Service Centre! We are looking forward to seeing all 100 elephants on display in the Term 3 holidays! !

Last week we were lucky enough to have Jungala and Colleen run two unique workshops about Indigenous Culture. Participants learned firsthand about the best way to help children engage in and appreciate Indigenous Culture as a gateway to exploring artworks. Jungala helped us form a better understanding of how to respectfully incorporate this essential part of Australian History in to the classroom. Thanks again for making the journey down from Alice Springs. Please check out our Facebook Galleries of Song Line Artworks created by participants. We encourage you to post descriptions about your work and your individual canvases on our wall!
