CBCA Authors and Illustrators Talk Term 3

Just Getting into the Swing of Things....

....and the term will be over 15 Days!!


January and February were gone in a blink of an eye as Zart was a hive of activity!

The Back to Basics workshops were held three times this summer and new and returning art teachers worked with Ann Bidstrup and Dee Zabel to power through the basic skills and techniques needed in the artroom. Teachers left exhausted but more confident in tackling the artroom and curriculum! There are still several other Back to Basics workshops scheduled in Term 1 and 2 focusing on Construction, Clay and Textiles. There is still room in many of our PD opportunities left for Term 1.  Please see our website for more information.

February is our busiest time of year filling orders and serving customers in the retail centre. It was great to see the continued support of our returning customers and exciting to have so many new customers interested in our PBL range as well!

The Free Product and Ideas Presentations are wrapping up next week. If you missed out on these make sure to check the Zart Extra at the start of 2014 for more information. See the winners of our free half day workshops in the next Zart Extra, these names were drawn from the 200 attendees who we met at these sessions this year.

Pamela Conder ran a very special workshop at the end of February in hopes of raising awareness of orangutan conservation.  Participants raved about this unique opportunity to share in Pamela's passion for these creatures and her artistic expertise. They left with a collection of ideas of how to incorporate activites  into the curriculum in their schools' and encourage awareness of conservation and protection of orangutans.  To read more follow this link to Pamela's article in the Term 1 2013 Extra.

In association with Earth 4 Orangutans and Pamela Conder, Zart would like to invite primary and secondary school students to create works of art in all media, giving their interpretations of orangutans and how they live. Selected work will be exhibited online and the project will culminate with an exhibition "Different Like Us" to be held in June 2013 at  Zart's Gallery in Box Hill, Victoria, Australia. On the 20th of June student artists, parents, and friends will be invited to the opening of the exhibition where students will be invited to offer their work for sale to support Earth 4 Orangutans, a project to create protected accommodation within a wild setting for Sumatran orangutans which will be the nucleus of a Conservation Education Centre in northern Sumatra. December Already?!?

Is it just us or did you blink and suddenly it was December! Only 3 weeks until the end of the Term and we're busy as ever!

Hopefully you are all prepared for Christmas activities and had a chance to attend one of our Naturally Christmas workshops! Our consultants were very busy in October visiting country areas we had not visited in a while! Thanks for your continued support and we look forward to coming out again! Tohby Riddle presented the creative processes behind his latest book Unforgotten on November 22. He was very informative and have given us a fantastic insight into the "behind the scenes" of making a picture story book! Thanks again Tohby!

Make sure to save the dates! Our consultants visit schools and educational facilities assisting in product knowledge, curriculum advice, activities and updating on new materials and products. They are happy to provide advice and expertise on techniques and applications and are there as a resource for our customers. When they visit, they will bring with them literature on products, techniques and art information, as well as new materials, samples showing the use of materials and provide ideas on how to use the products . These metropolitan and country presentations provide the ideal venue for consolidating or starting up a regional network of art teachers. It is an excellent opportunity to explore new ideas and view and discuss the products with colleagues in a relaxed atmosphere.
